Irregardless of your preference, analog or
digital there is no denying that the Manifold Gauge is the workhorse of
the HVAC/R trades. They are the one single instrument that uniquely, by
appearance alone - identifies the HVAC/R technician. No single
instrument in this or any other trade elicits the passionate discussions
and opinions as those that surround the manifold gauge. By outward
appearances alone one set seems to be no different from the next, but as
is the case in many instances outward appearances are deceptive. The
technologies associated with the manifold gauge was left largely
unchanged from that of the original design until recent years, this
applies not only to the digital sets but to the analogs as well. The
purpose of the Manifold Gauge Sub-Category is to present both the
digital technology as well as the analog technology broken down so the
advantages and disadvantages to each are clearly defined.
